Book Review - The Whispering House by Marci Baun

I pride myself on loving all things creepy, and macabre. Even so, I was unprepared for the level of spookiness in “The Whispering House.” I started reading it before bed, and less than a chapter in, I already knew I would be having nightmares.

What I thought was going to be a straight-up horror story quickly delved into the realms of fantasy, and science fiction. Marci Baun transitioned from what appeared to be a haunting into something quite different with expertly written flow.

Eleanor’s grappling with her own sanity, coupled with her attraction to both handsome sheriff Rodney Tyler, and enigmatic neighbor Michael Stevens provides a healthy friction to the storyline. The resolution was not one that I expected.

Do yourself a favor and read this book. Just be careful about reading it before bed… Especially if you live in a creaky old house, like I do.

I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
